The Ficus Alii is a relatively new Ficus cultivar that thrives in bright, non-direct light. It is a less fussy alternative to the popular Ficus benjamina and is much less likely to drop leaves if it doesn’t get what it wants. Its uniquely shaped leaves are long, slender and glossy and give this tree a tropical look. This plant was first grown in Hawaii, which is where it got the name “Alii”, which means “King” in Hawaiian.
