Native to Norfolk Island, a small island in the South Pacific, this plant is often grown as a ‘living Christmas tree,’ and can frequently be found during the holiday season. While many people purchase these trees as a holiday decoration, they can be kept year-round as a low maintenance houseplant. They prefer a bright light and thrive in high humidity. Despite their name, they are not actually pine trees, but tropical evergreen trees that can grow up to 200 feet tall in the wild, though they will only reach up to 8 feet indoors.
