With Valentine’s Day on the horizon, romance is definitely in the air but maybe it’s not in your wheelhouse. Luckily, at Poppies, we have closely observed romantic gestures on a daily basis for almost twenty years. They say it takes ten years to gain mastery, so collectively, we MUST be romance experts by now (double experts, if you will)… and we are here to help even the most hopeless romantic wow that special person this February fourteenth with these 3 tips from our 3 florists.
Rebecca says: Music
What says I love you more than a carefully created and perfectly personalized playlist!? This Valentine’s Day it’s time to channel your inner DJ and make a mixtape, just like us! (Click hear to listen to our Valentine Mixtape.) They’ll Remember The Time that Love Like This had them thinking to themselves “U Got It Bad”, Truly!... Madly Deeply ;). Set the mood and tell them how you really feel, without uttering a single word. Remember the days when you would sit in your bedroom listening to the radio waiting for the song you wanted to record to come on? Music is so accessible now that there’s no excuses for an ill-prepared iPod! I’ve kept all the mixes I’ve received because they are so sweet and sentimental. Maybe your “someone-special” will feel the same.
Katie says: Memories
If you’re here seeking advice, you must be doing something right. You’ve got yourself a Valentine! And I’m sure you’ve shared some pretty great memories together leading up to this date. Now is the time to put on your rose-tinted sunglasses and get to reminiscing. Remind them why you love them, when you first knew, what your first impression was, your favourite date so far… It can be so heartwarming to get caught up reflecting on all those happy memories. Remember your past fondly by putting together a photo album, framing a photo, or even commissioning a painting! Look forward to a promising future together by planning new memories. Not all gifts need to be material! Shared experiences have always been my favourite.
Laura says: Magic
Nature is truly magical. We’re amazed each day by the ever-changing naturally occurring colours and varieties of flowers the earth provides for us. It’s only natural that this Valentine’s Day it’s time to give someone beautiful something beautiful. Share the experience of flowers – the smells, the colours, the textures. They inspire romance! Start the night with flowers, and rest should come intrinsically!
